AbSec (NSW Child, Family and Community Peak Aboriginal Corporation) invites proposals for a culturally grounded evaluation of Strong Families, Our Way (SFOW) — an Aboriginal self-determination project that gives practical effect to the Aboriginal Case Management Policy (ACMP) and the Aboriginal Child Placement Principles (ACPP) through the establishment of Aboriginal Community Controlled Mechanisms (ACCMs).
ACCMs are a core element of the ACMP, providing the formal structure through which Aboriginal communities lead decision-making about their children, families and wellbeing.
The evaluation will examine how SFOW supports Aboriginal self-determination by enabling community control, shared accountability and local governance. It will focus on community voice, co-design, outcomes achieved, and barriers experienced by ACCMs across NSW. Findings will inform ongoing program improvement and system reform under Closing the Gap Target 12.
