Tender Description

Retail food and beverage service(s) at Kensington Street Building St George Hospital.

Scope:

The Agency is looking to the delivery of a food and beverage services commensurate with the contemporary desires and aspirations of the consumer market, and consistent with healthy food and drink options that support NSW Health policies. These services will compliment the current retail outlets on site, which include three commercially operated retail shops, a cafeteria, a small café and a gift shop

The St George Hospital regularly host stalls, which sell snacks, lunch options, gifts and other home items as part of the Hospital’s fundraising activities or the promotion of hospital services and activities.

Volunteers sell gift items, newspapers, toiletries and snack foods to the hospital wards and clinic spaces. Market days, managed by the Foundation, hospital departments or SESLHD services are also held on a regular basis. In addition, there are often pop-up food stalls, which are often operated at lunch time on a select day(s) during the week.

The Agency has determined a number of conditions and specific requirements with respect to the retail model. These conditions are designed to ensure that the Successful Tenderer(s) maintains a high standard of service delivery and includes amongst others the following.

The Successful Tenderer(s) will:

• Offer a variety of high quality, competitively priced food and beverage options

• At their own cost, fit out and maintain in accordance with all Australian standards the designated area(s), and provide any additional plant, equipment and furnishings needed to operate the services

• Have the ability to provide and manage the service(s), which includes:

  • The management of the services in accordance with the Food Act 2003 (NSW), Food Regulation 2015 (NSW) and the Australian New Zealand Food Standards (ANZFS) Food Standards Code and any successor to that Code
  • Operating the retail services in a highly professional manner at all times
  • Operating the retail areas and facility areas within the times outlined in Section 3.5
  • Having the capacity to offer both cash and EFTPOS/pay wave point of sales and payment systems as part of their services
  • Promoting a variety of healthy food options consistent with healthier food and drink choices described under NSW Health policy (Healthy Food and Drink in NSW Health facilities for Staff and Visitors Framework), including food options for special dietary needs and lifestyle choice, and
  • Providing a nominated representative to act in a liaison role with the Agency’s nominated representative(s).
