Browns Dam Water Pressurization System

GMB Water, a subsidiary of the Mount Barker District Council, invites tenders from suitably qualified parties for the provision of upgrades to the Browns Dam Water Pressurization System.

This tender is being issued as an open tender with suitably qualified and experienced contractors invited to tender in accordance with Section D Specification.

The Little Dublin Recycled Water Treatment Facility (LDRWTF) commonly referred to as Browns Dam, was originally constructed to provide recycled water to Hillgrove Mine. It later became a central hub for the storage, treatment, and distribution of recycled water within the Mount Barker District Recycled Water scheme.

At the time of its design and commissioning, the facility supported a limited number of customers using recycled water for various reuse applications. The distribution system was implemented as a flow-based delivery system, whereby operators set a target flow rate, and the system maintained this rate by activating pumps at predetermined set points.

As the customer base has diversified and Hillgrove Resources is no longer the primary user, maintaining consistent and equitable supply across all users has become increasingly challenging under the current flow-based configuration.

To address these limitations, the proposed project will transition the distribution system from a flow delivery system to a pressure-based delivery system. This upgrade will involve modifications to both the control system and supporting infrastructure, enabling consistent pressure distribution throughout the network. The change will also facilitate the connection of additional customers who are currently unable to access recycled water at pressures suitable for irrigation and other reuse purposes.

GMB Water will conduct a site/industry briefing at 10am on Friday 14th November at 43 Little Dublin East Rd (Browns Dam). The briefing is intended to provide Tenderers with background information, and Tenderers are not to treat any statements made at the briefing as variations to this RFT.

GMB Water reserves the right to require all Tenderers to attend the site/industry briefing. If this date is unsuitable Tenderer should seek to arrange an alternative time.

Each Tenderer attending the site/industry briefing should advise GMB Water the details of their attendees (including name and position) at least one business day before the briefing.

Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment must be worn when attending site.
