Tender Details
Tender Description
There are established trees bordering the Kaiapoi Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The trees are predominantly Pinus Radiata except for a band of Black Poplar at the site’s northwest corner. There are health and safety concerns due to the proximity of the trees to the walkway and power lines along the northern boundary, as well as Ferry and Beach Road. Areas of these trees need to be felled/harvested to resolve the health and safety concerns.
This Contract is for the harvesting of trees at the Kaiapoi WWTP, including the management of slash and replanting of pine trees per Appendix A.
The main tasks involved in this Contract are:
• Review of the replanting plan (before the harvest) to confirm compliance with the Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) and advise of any potential liabilities.
• Completing a comprehensive market assessment of the forest to determine the expected log volumes, grade distribution, and financial returns from harvesting/clearance of the trees at the WWTP.
• Harvesting of 9.612 Ha of forestry, including the removal of the black poplar trees and other miscellaneous tree species established within the forestry blocks.
• Racking slashing into windrows (or chipping slash if instructed) to leave the site tidy and ready for replanting
• Marketing and sale of the logs
• Replanting 5.839 Ha of the site with Pinus radiata.
• Maintenance of the Pinus Radiata seedlings for the first 12 months
