Expressions of Interest Building contractor

Torres Shire Council is seeking a contract building supervisor to undertake building maintenance and minor construction projects on both Horn Island and Thursday Island. The work will consist of but is not limited to internal and external building maintenance works, footing construction, public infrastructure maintenance. Part of the role is to supervise works and train council staff.

The applicant must hold a current QBCC licence (low rise) as a minimum with the relevant insurances and have the industry knowledge, skills and experience required to certify building construction works. The successful applicant will have access to short term accommodation if required for the duration of the projects. Applicants must provide a list of services provided with hourly rates (ex GST).

Work duration is six months with the option to extend. Work cycle and hours will be negotiated with successful contractor

The successful contractor will have demonstrated building skills and industry knowledge suited for the

- maintenance and construction of government building standards that suit the area.

- AS/NZS construction requirements for Government buildings

- experience in high wind areas and the application to buildings and maintenance

- willingness to train council staff to upskill and increase community skills in the area

- have good time management skills and awareness of lead times for materials

- experience with airside construction and hanger maintenance
