Tender Description

Overview

Northern Territory Youth Week is the largest celebration of young Territorians, providing a platform for them to connect, express their ideas, address issues that matter to them, and engage with the wider community through a diverse variety of programs and events.

NT Youth Week also acts as a key campaign for youth engagement and encourages local participation and strengthens partnerships between young people, the youth sector, and the wider community, providing an excellent opportunity for community groups, not-for-profit organisations, local businesses, community leaders and young people to engage and collaborate. There are two categories of activities funded under this grant:

  • Drug and alcohol-free entertainment: An opportunity for young people to plan, organise and participate in a variety of drug and alcohol-free programs.
  • Youth development/leadership: An opportunity providing young people access to personal and community development programs.
Activities provided through this grant must be drug and alcohol free and must not incur an attendance fee.

Available funding

Up to $2,000 is available for community groups and organisations across the Northern Territory to provide young people with opportunity to plan, organise and participate in a variety of drug and alcohol-free programs and/or provide young people access to personal and community development programs. Individuals are not eligible to apply for NT Youth Week grants.

What can be funded

  • Exciting and creative ideas designed with a youth-centric approach which provide safe and secure entertainment opportunities during NT Youth Week 2026, provide youth-friendly engagement, and
  • involve young people at all levels.
  • Programs which encourage the development of skills and attributes such as self-esteem, cooperation and trust for young people.
  • Programs which encourage the active participation of young individuals in both the planning and delivery stages.
  • Wages or salaries for course providers (e.g. instructors) up to 50% of the total request amount of the grant, only if required for the facilitation of an event or activity. This does not include wages or salary paid to your organisation’s staff during usual core business hours and must relate to the program or event.
There is flexibility for the delegate to consider funding multiple applications to one organisation in the same period in different locations within the Northern Territory. There is also flexibility for the delegate to consider providing financial assistance for applications beyond the grant round’s scope to meet local school holiday needs and requests.

What can't be funded

  • Programs or events that are scheduled outside of NT Youth Week 2026.
  • Programs located outside the Northern Territory, unless the program directly benefits young Territorians
  • Programs not catered to young people aged 12 to 25 years.
