Brisbane South PHN Child Mental Health Pilot Program

Brisbane South PHN is commissioning a pilot program to address a critical gap in mental health service provision for children under 12 years of age in the Bayside and Redlands corridor. This initiative responds to a concerning rise in reported and high-profile suicides among children and young people within the Brisbane South PHN catchment, particularly in this region.

Evidence indicates that some of the children and young people who died by suicide had previously attempted to access mental health support but were unable to do so due to limited expertise at initial points of contact, age-based service eligibility restrictions, and a lack of accessible services in their local area
