Clifton Sewerage Treatment Plan Tertiary Treatment Upgrade

The township of Clifton is located approximately 50km south of the City of Toowoomba, at the southern end of the Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) local government area. The Clifton Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) services the township of Clifton.

Prior to the 2022 upgrade, the Clifton bore water supply was upgraded with a reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plant (WTP). RO reject from the WTP is discharged to sewer in town at the main pump station and now comprises a significant load on the STP.

The algal growth in the lagoons is significant, and the current tertiary filtration system (Automatic Disk Filters) has not performed to expectations.

The upgraded sewage treatment plant has not been able to achieve the EA Permit (Condition number 7-WT3) for release to the environment (with respect to BOD, suspended solids and pH) and currently treated effluent is being irrigated.

TRC are seeking an experienced and competent Contractor to undertake the design and construction of a new Tertiary Treatment Plant (TTP) at Clifton STP to replace the existing tertiary filtration system.
