The Department of Local Government, Water and Volunteers seeks to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Contractor to upgrade the Wujal Wujal Water Treatment Plant as required by Detailed Designs provided with the invitation documents.
Wujal Wujal is a community with a population of 681 people (2017 Council Count) and is located in the Cape York region on the banks of the Bloomfield River, 4 hours north of Cairns by road. Wujal Wujal Aboriginal Shire Council currently operates and maintains the water supply network servicing the Wujal Wujal community. A recent condition assessment of the water treatment infrastructure has identified shortcomings across the raw water intake, storage and treatment plant requiring upgrade and remediation works.
Construction is not intended to commence until mid to late January 2026, and while the Department has estimated that Practical Completion will be around six months after site mobilisation, Tenders proposing different timeframes will be considered, and further information can be obtained by attending the optional Briefing Session or viewing a recording of the Briefing Session which will be administered through Microsoft Teams.
