Tender ID: 598165
Tender Details
Tender Description
King Island Council seeks to engage a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to deliver its 2025/26 Roads Reseal Program, involving approximately 52,466 m² of resealing works and around 660 m² of new dual coat sealing, for a total treatment area of approximately 53,126 m².
The works will be undertaken on selected road sections within Currie, including South Road, Old Grassy Road, Netherby Road, and Recreation Ground Road, as well as the King Island Hub driveway and parking area.
The objective of the program is to improve pavement condition, waterproofing, skid resistance, and overall surface longevity, ensuring the continued serviceability of Council's sealed road network.
Council will supply most materials and plant locally, including precoated aggregates, additives, rollers, loader, and traffic-control support. The contractor will be responsible for providing qualified sealing personnel, spray trucks, and any additional equipment necessary to complete the works in accordance with Department of State Growth (Tasmania) Specification Section 408: Sprayed Bituminous Surfacing and relevant Australian Standards.
The works are expected to be completed between January and March 2026, within a 4 to 6 week program, subject to favourable weather conditions.
Tender evaluation will be based on value for money, considering price, experience, WHS compliance, quality assurance, environmental performance, and local benefit contributions.
Note: King Island lies off the coast of north-west Tasmania in Bass Strait, roughly halfway between Tasmania and Victoria. The municipality covers approximately 1,098 km² and has a population of about 1,600 people across the townships of Currie, Grassy, and Naracoopa.
