Commercialisation Planning for the Unlocking Soil Potential collaboration
Tender ID: 598137
Tender Details
Tender Description
DPIRD - Grains Research Dev. Corp research program 'Unlocking Soil Potential strategic Partnership Agreement. Commercialisation strategies and business plans for the Next Generation Soil Technologies.
Project goals
The 'Unlocking Soil Potential' (USP) is focused on unlocking the full potential of cropping soils, unconstrained by physical and chemical limitations. NSW soils have constraints which include hard-setting soils, surface crusting, alkaline dispersive topsoils and subsoils, slaking, sodic soils and surface and subsurface acidity. Soil constraints reduce the value of grain production across NSW by an estimated $800 million per year.
The novel ameliorants being developed include chemically balanced organic amendments, engineered carbon-based composites, nano-structures lime and gypsum delivered in liquid and soils forms and novel technologies to build soil carbon.
Scope
Develop business cases and commercialisation plans for USP products (Plans) including the following:
- Evaluate the existing traditional soil ameliorants (e.g. Lime, gypsum) available and analyse customer needs and desirability of proposed USP products. The analyses should draw on evidence from Industry including feedback from end-users e.g. grain growers
- Build upon existing technical Develop criteria for the USP product development pipeline and propose stop/go gate steps which will aid the progression of concepts from laboratory through to commercialisation
- Evaluate and report on the current pipeline of concepts for product for technology readiness and feasibility in a commercial context including manufacture (Report)
- Complete a detailed analysis (and relevant searches e.g. patent) of competitors and competitor products, including traditional and novel soil ameliorant products.
- Evaluate and report on the financial viability of USP products to a commercial partner and end-user.
- Propose an IP protection strategy for USP products.
- Evaluate and report on key commercialisation risks and mitigations.
