Mill and Asphalt Fill John Foord Bridge approach including asphalt Footpath Works in Corowa

Federation Council is an NSW Local Government Council located south of the Murrumbidgee River and abuts the Murray River, west of the regional city of Albury. It covers an area of 5,685 sq kms. The population at the 2021 census was 12,821. The Council was formed in 2016 following the amalgamation of Urana Council and Corowa Council.

The council has 3 main towns of Corowa, Howlong and Mulwala with populations varying from 2000 to 4500. There are also 7 villages that have Council assets. The council is 140kms from north to south and 60kms east to west.

The main administration centre is located in Corowa with a secondary administration centre located in Urana.

Council is responsible to manage 278 km of Regional Roads and 2,034 Local Roads.

NOTE: All works must be completed on the 18th & 19th of November 2025. Contractors who cannot meet this strict schedule/dead-line due to bridge closure should not submit.

Council will supply ALL traffic control for the 2 days. Council proposes the closure to two days, and works planned on November 18th and 19th. The first day would be used for site cleaning, milling, and filling the bridge approach. The asphalt overlay could then be completed on the second day.

This process involves using a milling machine to remove the top layer of deteriorated Road pavement achieving a clean and smooth surface for a new asphalt overlay for a ride quality, improves structural strength from heavy vehicles and extends the pavement's life. It is to also ensure any drainage or water ponding issues are addressed.
