Project goals
Powerhouse Publishing develops and delivers a diverse and ambitious program of publications that reflect the museum’s curatorial, research, collection and program priorities. The 2025/26 publishing slate is focused on the development and delivery of major exhibition publications to support the opening of Powerhouse Parramatta in late 2026. To finalise publications for release in 2026, Powerhouse is seeking responses from suitably qualified suppliers to provide editorial and proofreading support across the Powerhouse Publishing program. Services will ensure the delivery of high-quality, accurate, and well-edited content that aligns with Powerhouse editorial, style guide and design standards.
Scope
The scope of services includes:
- Scope 1: Proofreading of a 1,000-page publication that documents the Australian Culinary Archive and providing 4 weeks of assistance for indexing in early 2026.
Dates subject to finalisation with the preferred supplier. Indicative dates are: Proofreading 9 February —23 February 2026 and Indexing 23 February—16 March 2026.
- Scope 2: Proofreading of a 500-page publication on Task Eternal, an expansive and immersive exhibition tracing humanity’s enduring quest to defy gravity, take flight and journey into space – from First Nations sky knowledges and early aviation to cutting-edge aerospace innovation, ethics and speculative future.
- Dates subject to finalisation with the preferred supplier. Indicative dates are: Proofreading March 2026.
- Scope 3: Proofreading of a 160-page publication the The Mall, exploring the history and evolution of shopping centres, the stories they hold, major disruptions in shopping behaviours and the future of retail.
- Dates subject to finalisation with the preferred supplier. Indicative dates are: Proofreading February 2026.
Suppliers may provide a quote for both or individual scopes and will be required to undertake:
- Proofreading of manuscripts, essays, and curatorial texts for clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
- Reviewing and proofreading designed layouts prior to publication to ensure typographical and formatting accuracy.
