Scope:

Product Introduction

Main Roads WA would like an introduction and overview of available CCTV monitoring solutions to be installed at two Heavy Vehicle Stopping Bay locations and three Arrester Beds, including information around specific capabilities and requirements.

CCTV Monitoring Locations

Heavy Vehicle Stopping Bays:

1. Welshpool Road East (Lesmurdie Hill) Stopping Bay

2. Coalfields Hwy (Roelands Hill) Stopping Bay

Heavy Vehicle Stopping Bays are placed at strategic locations at the top of steep descending hills within WA. Restricted Access Vehicles are required to stop at these locations prior to descending the hill to undertake essential safety checks in accordance with their condition of access.

Heavy Vehicle Arrester Beds:

1. Coalfields Hwy (Roelands Hill) Arrester Bed

2. Great Eastern Hwy (Greenmount Hill) Arrester Bed

3. Albany Hwy (Bedfordale Hill) Arrester Bed

A Heavy Vehicle Arrester Bed is a safety feature built on steep descents to stop heavy vehicles that have lost braking control. Its purpose is to provide an emergency escape route where a runaway truck can safely decelerate and come to a controlled stop.
