Central Coast GP Scholarship Program: Expressions of Interest open

The Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) is offering short term paid placements within clinical areas of the Central Coast Local Health District.

These placements, which become available throughout the year, provide General Practitioners with an opportunity to update their knowledge, skills and networks by working in a supervised environment with local specialists and their clinical teams.

There are six scholarship streams available:

• Addiction Medicine
• Chronic Pain
• Geriatric Medicine
• Paediatric Medicine
• Palliative Care
• Mental Health.

Each Scholarship provides remuneration for the GP based on the PHN hourly rate and payable when all scholarship requirements are complete.

Placements are for a total of 40 hours with some flexibility for negotiation such as 4 hours a week over 10 weeks; 8 hours a week over 5 weeks or 40 hours in a 1-week block.

The GP Scholarship Program has been accredited for 40 CPD hours in the following CPD types:

• Education Activity = 8.5 hours
• Reviewing Performance = 29.5 hours
• Measuring Outcomes = 2 hours

Expressions of Interest (EOIs) are invited from GPs interested in one of the scholarship streams and may be submitted at any time.

The EOI will remain open and be reviewed when they are received and when a scholarship placement becomes available. EOIs are reviewed by the GP Scholarship Advisory Committee with applicants notified by the PHN on the outcome of their application.

As places are limited, the scholarship EOI is a competitive process.
