Tender Description

ABOUT THE COUNCIL: Ku-ring-gai Council is a Local Government Area in the North Shore region of Sydney. It includes the suburbs of Gordon, Pymble, Lindfield, Killara, St Ives, Roseville, Warrawee, Turramurra and parts of Wahroonga.

ABOUT THE TENDER: Council needs to engage a suitable contractor to undertake the supply, installation, testing and maintenance (separable portion) of all equipment necessary for one (1) new passenger lift at Gordon Library at 799 Pacific Hwy, Gordon NSW 2072, as per the design specification.

This will include but not limited to the following:

All works, inclusive of associated building work, necessary to carry out this lift replacement and making good of all finishes affected by the Contract works. The lift shall receive a complete replacement together with associated work, performed by the Contractor, all as nominated below.

1. Contract Work to be Performed by the Contractor.

  1. Provide the required interfacing and equipment to retain the existing lift car access control / low level security functionality.
  2. Remove all lift equipment from the lift shaft, lift machine room, complete landing entrances, controller, hoist machine, car frame, car superstructure, counterweight, car and counterweight rails, pit equipment, landing door top tracks, landing door panels, shaft lighting, shaft ducting and the like, and remove all of the redundant equipment from the site.
  3. Effect all work necessary to supply and install one (1) new MRL passenger lift in compliance with the latest edition of the BCA, the Lift Code AS 1735 Parts 1, 11, 12, and 19, EN 81-20 / 50, the Wiring Rules AS 3000, the Work, Health & Safety Regulations, and this Specification.

2.Related Work to be Performed by the Contractor

 Provide suitable lockable barricades to the landing entrances during the lift replacement works as required and in accordance with the current Work, Health and Safety (WH&S) Regulations.

  1. Provide and install in the Main Lobby Floor entrance a notice regarding the lift replacement, in accordance with the requirements of this specification.
  2. Substantially protect all existing floor and wall finishes during the construction works.
  3. Supply and install any structural steel work and or shaft trimmer beams that may be required for the installation of the new lift equipment.
  4.  Conduct load testing of any existing lift machinery area and / or lift shaft lifting beams / eyes and provide the appropriate SWL signage prior to use.
  5.  Replace the existing lift electrical submain cables from the buildings main switch room to the new lift distribution boards with new fire rated submains incorporating a minimum conductor size (including the earth conductor) of 10mm2.
  6.  If so required, make good, render, skim coat and re-paint the front walls of the lift well and any other damage to the existing wall finishes to match the existing finishes caused by the lift installation to achieve the correct fire rating in accordance with the BCA. In addition, make good the existing floor finishes including tiled floors / carpets and skirtings and any other damage to the existing wall finishes to match the existing finishes caused by the lift installation.
  7.  Make good to the floor and walls within the existing lift machine room after the removal of the lift machine room equipment and installation of new equipment, brick up to the same thickness of the existing lift shaft, and fire rate any redundant or new penetrations in accordance with the requirements of the BCA.
  8. Paint the walls and floor after making good the lift machine room in accordance with this Technical Specification.
  9.  Review the existing lift shaft ventilation and if required conduct the necessary works to the existing lift shaft ventilation to comply with the requirement of the BCA.
  10.  Extend and reinstate any existing services associated with the existing lift to interface to the new lift and its associated controls and wiring. This is to include all cabling and termination points and provisions to enable full functionality and shall include but not be limited to, CCTV, Access Control, WIP Telephones, Mobile Network Gateway Devices.

The Council is not bound to accept the lowest priced Tender or all or any part of a Tender and reserves the right to conduct the Request for Tender process and select the successful respondent(s) as it sees fit. Council staff is unable to respond to verbal enquiries in relation to the Tender. Late, verbal, faxed or emailed proposals will not be accepted.
