Expression of Interest: Independent Presiding Member – Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is inviting expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to serve as an Independent Member of its Audit and Risk Committee.

The Audit and Risk Committee provide independent oversight, advice, and guidance to Council in relation to:

• Financial reporting and audit processes

• Risk management and internal control systems

• Governance, legislative compliance, and internal audit

Term of Appointment

The appointment will be for a period of up to two years, expiring at the next ordinary local government election, with eligibility for reappointment.

Essential Criteria

Applicants should demonstrate:

• Relevant experience in financial management, governance, risk, or audit functions

• A sound understanding of local government or public sector operations

• High standards of integrity, independence and analytical thinking

• The ability to contribute effectively to committee deliberations

Desirable

• Professional qualifications in accounting, finance, law, or risk management

• Previous experience on audit or governance committees

Remuneration

An allowance will be paid to the Independent Member in recognition of time and expertise contributed.
