Multi Year Rerailing and Turnout Installation

⁠⁠⁠Rerailing works and turnout installation is a recurrent maintenance activity and forms part of the Annual Works Program (AWP) within the approved annual Budget and Corporate Plan. It includes predominantly Capital expenditure with some ad hoc operating work scopes, for example rail adjusting for maintenance teams as part of their track stability management program (i.e. seek to use the same contractors/skillset).

The requirement is to engage a secure group of quality contracting partners to meet the rerailing and turnout installation needs of ARTC in accordance with annual Board approved budgets.

Scope:

The turnout installation process will require the scoping, hazard identification, pre-build location determination and installation of turnouts supplied by others to ARTC Standards.

This includes, but is not limited to, all associated project management activities including planning, construction, and as-built documentation to comply with ARTC requirements detailed.

The replacement and/or removal of the turnouts can be briefly summarised as follows;

(1) Disconnection of signalling infrastructure.

(2) The removal of existing turnouts and plain track.

(3) Excavation and removal of existing subgrade and formation.

(4) For culvert specific sites, supply and installation of culvert.

(5) Installation of new formation and Ballast.

(6) Installation of new turnout (pre-built by others) and associated plain track.

(7) Tamping to alignment (when requested).

(8) CWR, rail adjustment and verse testing for validation of SFT.

(9) Defects corrections.

(10) Signalling re-connection, testing and commissioning.

(11) Site clean-up, formation drainage and disposal of nominated materials upon departure.
