Funding victims group(s) under the Victims Rights and Support Act 2013

DCJ will provide funds to victim groups under the Victims Rights & Support Act 2013 for direct, person centred services that support victims of crime.

Project goals

In line with the Charter of Victims Rights and the intent of the VRSA, the focus of the funding is to support victims of crime to manage the immediate and long-term impacts of crime. Specifically, the funding objectives include:

• supporting victims of acts of violence who experience unique barriers to access services;
•  to provide community based support services to victims of crime.

Scope

The purpose is to fund victims groups to provide direct, person-centred and community based support services to victims of crime in NSW, to support them to manage the immediate and long-term impacts of crime.

The tender recognises that the needs of victims are diverse, and that effective support may take many forms (particularly for victims of crime with specialist needs). As such, the tender is open to a range of service models and approaches that contribute to the funding’s overall objectives and meaningful outcomes for victims of crime. This may include, but is not limited to:

• the provision of information, assistance and support
• support throughout the criminal justice process
• case management and coordination of services
• referrals to Victims Services and other relevant support systems
