Overview
Neoen Australia Pty. Ltd. is developing the Narrogin Wind Farm project in the Shire of Narrogin and Williams, Western Australia, approximately 160 km southeast of Perth.
About
The renewable energy project comprises up to 23 wind turbines with a maximum production capacity of up to 200 MW, a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh, and associated infrastructure. The project can connect into the state's South West Interconnected System (SWIS) from an existing 220 kV transmission line near its southern boundary, and it has been awarded critical project status with Western Power to enable a timely connection.
Purpose
The project will take advantage of some of the best wind resources in Western Australia to provide affordable and clean electricity.
Objectives
The project will provide economic benefits to the local community, including:
- Creation of up to 250 jobs during the up to 33-month construction period
- Creation of between 10 and 15 permanent jobs during the operational period of 30+ years
Scope
The scope includes:
- Construction of up to 23 wind turbines with a maximum production capacity of up to 200 MW
- Installation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) with a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh
- Associated infrastructure supporting the wind farm and BESS
- Connection into the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) via an existing 220 kV transmission line near the project's southern boundary
Contract Terms and Conditions
- Construction is scheduled to start in early 2026
- The construction period is up to 33 months
- The operational period is 30+ years
