EOI Transfer of Ownership and Operation of Electric Vehicle Charger Network
Tender ID: 596316
Tender Details
Tender Description
City of Launceston is seeking expressions of interest from interested parties to take over ownership of its electronic vehicle charging network.
Scope:
The City of Launceston is committed to supporting the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) as part of its Sustainability Action Plan, Economic Development Strategy, Transport Strategy, and City Innovation Strategy.
As one of Tasmania’s leading councils in sustainable mobility, Launceston has demonstrated its leadership through early adoption and continued investment in EV infrastructure.
This Expression of Interest (EOI) is designed to facilitate the transfer of ownership of Launceston’s existing EV charging network to a capable private operator. This will include the operation, maintenance, and potential upgrade of the infrastructure at the existing sites.
The successful Contractor will not be granted exclusive rights to establish new chargers at other Council owned sites, ensuring a competitive environment for future EV infrastructure.
The 50kW DC fast charger was installed at Paterson Street East Car Park in Launceston in 2018.
Since then, the network has expanded to include eight publicly accessible chargers, primarily AC chargers.
The City of Launceston's aim is to:
(a) Transfer ownership and operation of its existing EV chargers to a competent and experienced operator with licence agreements to support ongoing operations.
(b) Ensure reliable, safe, stress-free charging solutions for locals, visitors and tourists.
(c) Support residents without off street parking or personal chargers.
(d) Boost economic activity by encouraging EV users to shop and dine locally while charging.
(e) Facilitate innovation in EV infrastructure and encourage adoption of emerging technologies.
