Moree Plains Shire Council is currently seeking Expressions Of Interests for a suitably qualified and experienced person to be appointed as Chairperson for Council’s Audit, Risk, and Improvement Committee (ARIC) for a one (1) year term.
The Chairperson has a pivotal role in supporting the Council to uphold robust and effective governance. They must be a seasoned leader with a wealth of experience in senior management, risk management, and governance. This position is ideal for an individual of integrity who can exercise independent judgment while being receptive to evolving perspectives as new information arises.
The ARIC committee is tasked with reviewing the Council's performance in several key areas, as outlined in section 428A of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW). These areas include compliance, risk management, fraud control, financial management, governance, implementation of the strategic plan and delivery program, service reviews, collection of performance measurement data by the Council, internal audit, and any other matters prescribed by the regulations.
The Chairperson will be expected to oversee the management of ARIC meetings and establish credible and constructive relationships with other Committee members, Councillors and Executive Council staff. Remuneration for an independent Chairperson are as follows: Sitting fee for Independent Voting Chair - $2,000.00 per meeting;
