River and Wetland Health Assessment and Action Plan - Richmond River catchment within Kyogle LGA

Kyogle Council is seeking proposals from suitably qualified consultants to undertake a health assessment and mapping of rivers and wetlands within the upper Richmond River catchment that fall within the Kyogle Local Government Area (LGA). River reaches and wetlands will need to be prioritised and mapped for on-ground restoration activities, which will form the basis of a detailed River and Wetland Action Plan. This Plan will guide future investment in river and wetland restoration activities and to seek funding. Substantial ground truthing of the mapping and prioritisation work will be required. Appropriate monitoring and reporting actions will need to be identified. Stakeholder engagement and community participation will be an extremely important part of the process. There will be a need to inform the community of the project, seek feedback, involve and collaborate with stakeholders.

A Communication and Engagement Plan and an education and awareness package, including engagement resources, will need to be developed.

The project is being funded through an external grant which has a deadline for expenditure set at 30 June 2026.
