Recognising that strengthening relationships across the primary health care sector contributes to better patient experience, better access to care and ultimately better health outcomes, WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) is creating a Multidisciplinary Health Care Advisory Panel.
WAPHA operates WA’s three Primary Health Networks (PHN), as part of the Australian Government’s PHN Program. Our state-wide structure and strong partnerships help us work towards improving health equity and outcomes, particularly for those at risk of poor health. We do this by helping general practices provide high-quality and patient focused care, establishing health care services based on data and community need, connecting services to make accessing health care easier and innovating new or improved ways to plan, design and deliver health services.
The Multidisciplinary Health Care Advisory Panel will comprise of a diverse range of health care professionals including Aboriginal health workers and practitioners to provide timely guidance, advice or options to support the development and delivery of projects and initiatives being led by WAPHA.
Multidisciplinary Health Care Advisory Panel members will be engaged to provide independent and timely guidance, advice and options to support:
- Strategic projects aligned to strengthening integration of allied health into primary care, improving access and equity and supporting multidisciplinary models of care.
- Commissioning services in response to multidisciplinary teams in general practice and multidisciplinary mental health funding streams.
- Development and delivery of projects and initiatives led or informed by WAPHA’s strategic priorities.
We are calling for expressions of interest from range of health care professionals who work within a community or general practice setting and are passionate about their field of expertise. This includes:
- Aboriginal health workers and practitioners
- nurses, nurse practitioners and midwives
- mental health professionals
- occupational therapists
- physiotherapists
- podiatrists
- dieticians and diabetes educators
- pharmacists
- other allied health professionals.
Members of the Advisory Panel will be invited to attend quarterly meetings as relevant to them regarding the topic of interest. They may also be invited to attend occasional ad-hoc consultations. Meetings will be capped at 20 panel members each sitting.
