The Corowa Saleyards Agricultural Hub (CSAH) is a business owned and managed by Federation Council. It has been operating for more than 100 years and it well positioned in the region with consistent market growth over the fifteen (15) years. Currently, it is recognised as the fifth largest sheep saleyard facilities in NSW. The last five (5) years of results has highlighted that Corowa Saleyards Agricultural Hub has an average 584,037 throughput of sheep per annum and contributes on average $90M is sheep sales to the local economy each year.

The catchment area for the CSAH is widespread with sheep arriving from across both NSW and Victoria. In NSW, stock regularly come from Hay, Deniliquin, Finley, Jerilderie and Narrandera and intermittently from as far as Parkes (435km north). Agents and farmers from Victorian towns of Omeo, Mansfield, Shepparton, Benalla, Wangaratta and Yarrawonga also regularly access the Corowa Saleyards Agricultural Hub as their regular selling facility.

Council recognises the economic significance that CSAH brings to the local region and the benefit of ensuring the facility continues to remain viable into the future. As the market and regulatory environment continues to change and shift, forward planning is essential for Federation Council.

Recently, the CSAH underwent an $11.8M major upgrade with the aim of future-proofing the business by significantly upgrading facilities onsite and addressing animal welfare, improving worker and visitor safety, efficiency, productivity, providing spaces for education and training opportunities, addressing impacts of climate change with access to sustainable power and water.

Federation Council has developed Business Plans for other business units of council, such as Corowa Aquatic Centre. Following recent infrastructure upgrades at the facility, Federation Council wishes to review and critically assess the business, the changing market environment, and the financial performance of the Corowa Saleyards Agricultural Hub to determine potential opportunities and best direction moving forward to future-proof the facility.
