Tender Details
Tender Description
The New Plymouth District Council (NPDC) is planning to develop the western threshold of the city centre near the Clock Tower, Len Lye Centre, and Ngāmotu House. The purpose is to leverage the city's premium cultural assets and develop a more vibrant and accessible space.
The scope of work will be carried out in an area that straddles Devon Street West, Queen and King Streets. The works will reconfigure traffic flow, enhance pedestrian safety, add green space and seating.
The project’s intended outcomes are focused on:
• Improved pedestrian safety and connectivity between premium cultural assets and hospitality zones
• Enhance the experience around civic attractions and support local businesses
• Reduce vehicle dominance and design a flexible and inviting streetscape
The project will be carried out in one phase between January 2025 and June 2026. Subject to the Contractor’s methodology it’s anticipated that the work programme will be broken down into three stages to minimise road closures, traffic management and impacts on pedestrians and surrounding businesses.
The key objective of this procurement is to engage a suitably qualified civil construction company with the capability and capacity to execute the works between January 2025 and June 2026.
