SH1 Belfast to Pegasus Motorway and Woodend Bypass – Early works Implementation - Kaiapoi River Bridge Strengthening - PW

This is a Physical Works contract for the Kaiapoi River Bridge strengthening. The bridge requires seismic strengthening to enable the future widening.

The Contract Works comprise of:

• The installation of abutment strengthening through the installation of bearing strips, corbels and concrete shear blocks at the 10 girders at the abutments at each end of the bridge.
• Seismic FRP wrapping of 30 columns that will be carried out by a NZTA’s nominated supplier as subcontractor to this contract.
• The works will also include traffic management, working over water and near a railway line.
