Project goals

The Geological Survey of NSW seeks cased hole wireline and perforation services for a Project consisting of well completion, flow testing and plug and abandonment of 2 existing wells in the Darling Basin.

The services required include cased hole wireline logging and perforation services, including provision of all equipment, material and personnel to provide the services. The Project aims to better understand the regional geology and reservoir characteristics of certain formations in the Pondie Range and Yathong Troughs of the Darling Basin, by addressing key knowledge gaps in geological structure, stratigraphy, reservoir properties, and hydrogeology. This work will provide valuable data for the Geological Survey of NSW to refine geological models, and inform future resource assessments and other studies.

It is planned to conduct drift run(s), a Cement Bond Log (CBL) and multiple perforations in the wells offline (i.e. without a rig) using a wireline unit with a crane truck and equipment. Once the wells have been perforated and following completions being run, a rig-less flowback and well testing campaign will be conducted.

Scope

It is planned to conduct drift run(s), a Cement Bond Log (CBL) and multiple perforations in the wells offline (ie: without a rig) using a wireline unit with a supporting crane truck and equipment. It is anticipated that the cased hole wireline scope will take approximately 2-3 weeks to complete.

Once the wells have been perforated rig-less and following completion string being installed with a rig planned for tentatively March-2026, a rig-less flowback and well testing campaign will be conducted.

The Services would ideally be capable of being provided as a self-sufficient package.Operations are below:

a) Rig up wireline package over wellhead, including considerations for a 7-1/16” work valve and basic wireline pressure control equipment.

b) Drift 7” production casing to the 7” x 5-1/2” crossover point and drift 5-1/2” production casing to PBTD with junk basket/gauge ring or gauge cutter or a custom-made gauge/drift.

c) Conduct a cement bond log with GR-CCL correlation.

d) Perforate 5-1/2” production casing section and zones with 3-3/8” 6spf 60deg wireline casing guns with HMX (deep penetration) charges (supplier supplied), with depth correlations. Current expectatoin is for three zones (Priority 1,2,3) in Coona Coona-1 & Coona Coona-2 wells (with priority 4 & 5 optional).

Supplier is to provide all Equipment, Materials and Personnel for the provision of Services required to complete the wells with a design and operational plan as detailed in the Technical Scope.
