Doorstep Recycling Service

⁠⁠⁠The Council of the City of Sydney ("the City") invites tenders for carrying out the "Doorstep Recycling Service" ("the Services") in accordance with this Request for Tender (RFT).

The City intends to award one Service Provider to collect recyclable items directly from residential properties and manage all aspects of the Services including service bookings, customer management, collection, sorting, reporting and promotion.

Eligible Items for collection are those that are not accepted in existing kerbside bins and include at a minimum small electronics and digital devices, expanded polystyrene, batteries, light globes, unwearable textiles, and mobile phones.

The Transition In Services will commence on 1 January 2026 with the Services commencing on 1 March 2026. The Service Provider must ensure all requirements, including systems, staffing, equipment and vehicles are in place for the Services to commence on 1 March 2026.

Tenderers must submit tenders in the manner required by this RFT.

Local Government Tendering Requirements

This tender is being conducted in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993 and the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021 ('Regulation').

This tender is for "domestic or other waste management services", being the storage, treatment, processing, collecting, removal, disposal, destruction, sorting or recycling of domestic waste or other waste per section 164 of the Regulation.

Tenderers are advised that the City has reviewed its obligations under the Regulation and tenders are not required to be accompanied by an undertaking, consistent with sections 170(3) and 173(4) of the Regulation, respectively.
