Engineering Design - Bice and Yeager Roads

Bice and Yeager Roads are gravel roads characterised by multiple crossings of 3rd order streams. These crossings have suffered major damage as part of the February 2022 and subsequent flood events. Consequently, Lismore City Council (LCCs) engaged GHD to conduct a damage assessment and provide a Concept Options Report. There were 18 sites identified that require remediation, 11 sites attributed to Yeager Road and 7 sites attributed to Bice Road. The sites are shown geographically in and summarised in Table 1 with the proposed works.

The Concept Design Report completed by GHD is provide in Appendix A. The following activities have also been undertaken to facilitate the design process:

• Detailed site survey (refer Appendix B)

• Geotechnical Investigation (refer Appendix C)

• Hydraulic Flood Analysis (refer Appendix D)

Commentary with respect to the above works (Appendix B, C and D) are summarised in Table 2.

The aim of this project is to continue the design process and prepare detailed design plans to enable completion of construction. Note, consideration based on cost estimates shall be made as to the most suitable creek crossings (bridge or box culvert) while maintaining compliance with DPI Policy and guidelines for fish habitat conservation and management Update 2013.
