Tender Description

Overview

The Northern Territory Government (NTG) leads the strategic policy and planning agenda for alcohol and other drugs (AOD) in the Northern Territory (NT) in partnership with health services, non-government organisations and consumers. The AOD Youth Grants program aims to minimise harm associated with the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, including volatile substances, through a range of prevention, education and community action initiatives.

The opportunity to apply for a one-off grant is now available to community groups and non-government organisations. Funding is available up to $20,000 for individual projects/initiatives across the NT.

The key focus areas for 2025/26 applications are:

1. Provision of projects that aim to reduce harms associated with AOD among young people. Priority projects will demonstrate the following:
  • Promoting healthy choices
  • Improving mental health, social and emotional wellbeing
  • Reducing harms associated with AOD
  • Encouraging healing and connection to culture and community to increase strength and resilience.
2. Demonstrate that the activities are consistent with the National Drug Strategy 2017-2026, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Drug Strategy 2014-2019, and the National Strategic Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples’ Mental Health and Social and Emotional Wellbeing 2017-2023.

3.Projects/initiatives must be specifically for the NT.

Who can apply
Funding is available to individuals and not for profit organisations.

To be eligible for funding an individual must
  • have completed all required information in the application form and submitted required documentation in support of your application
  • reside in the NT for the duration of funded activity
To be eligible for funding an organisation must

1. meet one of the following:
  • be incorporated under and compliant with the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act (Commonwealth)
  • be incorporated under and compliant with one of: the Associations Act (NT), the Corporations Act 2001, the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act (Commonwealth), any other Act of Parliament
  • be a local governing body or an incorporated organisation delivering local government or municipal services
  • be incorporated under and compliant with the Associations Act (NT)
  • be operating as a sole trader
  • be physically located and actively operating in the NT
2. have met acquittal requirements for all previous funding (this grant) and complied with all other accountability requirements
3. have completed all required information in the application form and submitted required documentation in support of your application
3. have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
4. have public liability insurance of at least $10 million

Who can't apply
To be eligible for funding an individual must not
  • have an outstanding acquittal and or other accountability requirement (this grant)
What can be funded
What type of programs can be funded?

  • Single activities/initiatives
  • Activities over a period of time
  • Information sessions
  • Projects/programs that are a combination of regular series of activities
  • Collaborative projects with other community groups and/or service providers
  • Projects or activities that are supported within the community
  • The project/initiative demonstrates activities which are consistent with the National Drug Strategy 2017-2026, the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Drug Strategy 2014-2019, and the National Strategic Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Mental Health and Social Emotional Wellbeing 2017-2023
  • Projects with a maximum duration of 12 months
  • Projects/initiatives that are specifically for the NT
  • Previously successful delivery and reporting of funded projects
