Albury City Council is commissioning a new public artwork and is calling for artists to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).

This is an open call to all artists or artist teams (2 or more) who are local or have a connection to the area.

The artwork is to be situated at the Lavington Five Ways Intersection. This project offers the opportunity to design and install an artwork that reflects the rich history, unique character and spirit of Lavington.

Following the EOI process, up to three artist/s will be shortlisted. A payment of $1,000 (ex. GST) is offered to each shortlisted artist/artist team on submission of a conforming Artwork Concept Proposal (ACP) to develop a design. The final artist or artist team will be given a total artwork production fee of $50,000 (ex. GST) including artist/s fee.

The project is to deliver a new public artwork for the Lavington Five Ways intersection to enhance the area’s appearance, support local economic, creative development, and strengthen community identity.

The artwork should aim to improve the social fabric of Lavington by reflecting local stories, increasing public safety, and creating a more inclusive and walkable space. Artists are invited to propose original, durable, and accessible designs that respond to the site’s visibility and significance. The final work is to become a lasting cultural landmark for the Lavington community.

The project is to be delivered by Thursday, 30 April 2026.

• Return AlburyCity Lavington Five Ways Public Art Commission Request for Quotation 25/02045 form
• 1 x A4 page proposal outlining how the artist intends to respond to the project
• 1 x A4 page Curriculum Vitae outlining relevant artistic experience (no more than 1 page per person)
• A brief artist biography (up to 200 words per artist) including artist’s relationship with the region
• Up to 4 previous artworks showcasing artist/s previous work.
