Matthews Park Reserve is located on the corner of Moore Street and Struan Avenue in Blair Athol. The upgrade of Matthews Park Reserve has been identified in Council’s Open Space Strategy.
The Open Space Strategy classifies Matthews Park Reserve as a ‘local’ park, which captures the local residents within 400m of the Reserve and is designed for short frequent visits. The space is aimed for informal/low key activities, flexible spaces, predominantly passive recreation and offering safe and appealing maintenance.
The objective of the upgrade is to create a reserve that has up-to-date facilities and meets the needs of the community.
Following two round of community consultations, the reserve upgrade has been designed, and the scope broadly includes installation of a new playspace, paths, shade sails, bicycle pump track, garden beds and trees, shelter and irrigation.
