Gold Corporation T/As The Perth Mint (Company) invites you to provide a formal tender for the supply of: Refinery Chemical Bund Remediation.

The Perth Mint Refinery Bund Remediation Project intends to rehabilitate bunds across the site.

Over the years, the refinery’s chemical bunds have been modified and not been maintained. Due to the lack of maintenance, they are visually de-laminated, and their integrity has been compromised with many walls suffering from cracking “concrete cancer”. Some bunds are no longer required or fit for purpose.  It has been raised as a serious environmental hazard and is in urgent need to restore the bunds for achieving bund integrity in accordance with AS3780 standards.

Scope:

The scope of work comprises of rehabilitation of bunds across the site at the Perth Mint Refinery, 131 Horrie Miller Drive, Perth Airport.

List of remedial works:

1. Amalgamate bund 1 & 2

• No amalgamation works required.

• Include the existing plinth with extraction fan within bund 1. Build walls around the plinth.

2. Amalgamate bund 4,5,6 & 7

• Demolish existing wall and install new concrete wall. Apply nitoprime or similar where bund walls are demolished and existing steel is left exposed.

• Make an access so that a forklift can drive in and out of the bund.

3. Bund 1 repairs

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched area and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product remove existing paint from walls and install coving and lining using forsoc nitecote EP410 or similar

4. Bund 2 repairs

• Re-adjust the height of the sump to be lower than the slab level for the drainage to be achieve by gravity.

• Remove all the pipework within the wall and ensure all walls are impervious with no penetrations.

• Minimum separation distance of 1m between bund wall and tank to be achieved

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove corrosion staining and repair the delaminated concrete areas to tank base plinths and bund walls and fill cracks with lining using forsoc Nitecote EP410 or similar

• Remove existing paint from wall and install coving and lining using forsoc nitecote EP410 or similar

• Demolish existing wall and build new concrete wall. Apply nitoprime or similar where bund walls are demolished and existing steel is left exposed.

5. Bund 3 repairs

• Construct bund to increase height of wall, height of the sump to be lower than the slab level for the drainage to be achieved by gravity.

• Minimum separation distance of 1m between bund wall and tank to be achieved

• Remove the previous delaminated sealant to walls and confirm if reinforcement is corroded, if reinforcement is extensively corroded, demolish, and install new concrete wall. If reinforcement is in good condition, repair any areas of delaminated concrete and fill cracks with master seal CR460 or similar.

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove existing paint from wall and install coving and lining using forsoc nitecote EP410 or similar bund 4 repairs

• Rectify leaking pipe ensuring no volume capacity of the bund is reduced

• Repair areas of delaminated and spalled concrete to bund walls and tank plinths with sikagrad- 62 or similar product.

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove existing paint from wall and install coving and lining using forsoc nitecote EP410 or similar

6. Bund 4 Repairs

• Repair the delaminated and spalled concrete to all tank plinths with low shrinkage cementitious repair mortar prior to installing bund linings.

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Coat the bund with the liner using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar.

• Ensure the chemical resistant linings are selected based on the acidic requirements including but not limited to temperature, immersion resistance, splash/spill and washdown requirements.

• Remove existing paint from wall and install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

• Install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

7. Bund 5 repairs

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product, coat the bund with the liner using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

• Remove existing paint from wall and install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

8. Bund 6 repairs

• Demolish the wall and install new concrete,

• Install a secondary containment system

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove existing coating and coat the bund with lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

9. Bund 7 repairs

• Construct bund to increase height of wall

• Minimum separation distance of 1m between bund wall and tank to be achieved

• Demolish rear bund wall and install new concrete wall. Refer to typical new bund detail

• Remove the previous delaminated sealant to walls and confirm if reinforcement is corroded, if reinforcement is extensively corroded, demolish, and install new concrete wall. If reinforcement is in good condition, repair any areas of delaminated concrete and fill cracks with master seal Cr460 or similar.

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote ep410 or similar

• Install new master seal CR460 or similar

 Note: 1. Bunds 1-7 are to be covered with steel framed PVC fabric shade structures.

Bund Area 8-9 Plan

1. Bund 8 repairs

• Remove the previous delaminated sealant to walls and confirm if reinforcement is corroded, if reinforcement is extensively corroded, demolish, and install new concrete wall. If reinforcement is in good condition, repair any areas of delaminated concrete and fill cracks with master seal CR460 or similar.

• Repair areas of delaminated and spalled concrete with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

2. Bund 9 repairs

• Remove the previous delaminated sealant to walls and confirm if reinforcement is corroded, if reinforcement is extensively corroded, demolish, and install new concrete wall. If reinforcement is in good condition, repair any areas of delaminated concrete and fill cracks with master seal CR460 or similar.

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Coat the bund wall with lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

• Remove the existing paints from the walls and install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

Note: Bunds 8-9 are to be covered with steel framed PVC fabric shade structures.

Bund Area 10 -14 Plan

1. Bund 10 repairs

• Repair areas of delaminated and spalled concrete with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove existing sealant and install new master seal CR 460 or similar

• Install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

2. Bund 11 repairs

• Repair areas of delaminated and spalled concrete with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Replace steel column supporting the cable tray

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove existing sealant and install new master seal CR460 or similar

• Install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

3. Bund 12 repairs

• Repair areas of delaminated and spalled concrete with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched areas and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove existing sealant and install new master seal CR 460 or similar

• Install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

4. Bund 13 repairs

• Remove existing liner to floor and coat the bund with liner using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

• Re-profile the slab area for heavy etched area and fill cracks with sikagrad- 62 or similar product

• Remove existing sealant and install new master seal CR 460 or similar

• Install coving and lining using forsoc nitcote ep410 or similar

5. Bund 14 repairs

• Construct bund to increase height of wall

• Re-surface the floor area for heavy etched areas with sikagrad- 62 or similar product to ensure the current ponding in the slab drains to sumps in the centre of the bunded area

• Demolish and repair concrete plinths under the tanks and ensure the bund linings are detailed to extend up and above the plinths and bricks

• Coat the bund wall with lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

Bund Area 15 -16 Plan

1. Bund 15 repair

• Repair the areas of delaminated concrete plinths with sikagrad- 62 or similar product.

• Remove existing sealant and install new master seal CR460 or similar

• Coat the bund wall and concrete plinths with lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

2. Bund 16 repair

• Repair areas of delaminated and spalled concrete to bund walls and tank plinths with sikagrad- 62 or similar product.

• Remove the previous delaminated sealant to walls and confirm if reinforcement is corroded, if reinforcement is extensively corroded, demolish, and install new concrete wall. If reinforcement is in good condition, repair any areas of delaminated concrete and fill cracks with master seal CR460 or similar.

• Coat the bund wall with lining using forsoc nitcote EP410 or similar

• Remove existing sealant and install new master seal CR460 or similar

• Install coving and lining

Out of Scope

The bunds 17 and 18 are in good condition and are out of scope.
