Council requires the collection, removal and processing of biosolids from two of its wastewater treatment facilities: Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility and Pittsworth Water Reclamation Facility.

The Wetalla Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) operated by council is located on Goombungee Road, Cranley. This facility comprises two separate treatment trains, each producing aerobically digested biosolids as a by-product of the wastewater treatment process. All biosolids produced are dewatered by belt filter presses. The biosolids are then dried using solar energy in solar drying halls.

The Pittsworth WRF is located on Long Road, Pittsworth and comprises of a single treatment train, producing aerobically digested biosolids, which are dewatered by a belt filter press.

From time-to-time equipment failures may result in diversion of quantities of dewatered biosolids to stockpiles. This material will also be required to be removed from the sites.
