Delivery of safe, reliable, heavy freight transport for highly critical rolling stock parts for Sydney Trains Fleet Supply Chain.

Project goals

Sydney Trains Fleet Supply Chain is seeking a qualified road freight transport/third-party logistics (3PL) provider to deliver critical logistics/road transportation services for the safe, efficient and timely movement of oversized, heavy and high value rolling stock components, primarily train bogies and on occasion other components. The provider will be responsible for ensuring the timely, secure and incident-free movement of these components between Sydney Trains maintenance depots and storage facilities across the Sydney Metro and Hunter Region. This engagement also aims to establish a long-term partnership that consistently delivers high service standards, operational efficiency and value for money. The proposed term is up to 5 years (3+1+1).

Scope

The supplier will provide heavy road freight transport services for oversized, heavy and high value rolling stock components, primarily train bogies and on occasion other components. This includes the end-to-end management of collection, secure loading and unloading, transport and delivery between Sydney Trains maintenance centres and storage facilities.

The provider must demonstrate the capacity and capability to deliver these services reliably, with a well-maintained fleet, trained and licensed drivers and robust systems that ensure full compliance with all safety, regulatory and Chain of Responsibility requirements.

All vehicles and trailers must be suitable for the specific load types, and the provider must ensure adherence to Heavy Vehicle National Law, Chain of responsibility obligations and Sydney Trains site protocols. Services are scheduled or unscheduled including weekends and public holidays. The solution must include secure load restraint, proof of delivery, in-transit insurance, real-time communication and tracking and oversight of subcontractors to meet the same standards.
