SWSLHD is seeking expressions of interest related to alternate recycling streams in an effort to reduce its annual general waste output.

Project goals

• Identify new potential waste streams for suitability within the healthcare sector
• reduce general waste
• determine feasiblility of future tender to engage market for alternative recycling streams at SWSLHD

Scope

• EPS, expanded polystyrene- mainly IT packaging and single use eskies for medicine transfer
• Disposable coffee cups and lids
• Pharmaceutical blister packs (empty)
• Low density polyethylene from packaging and pallet wraps, baled and unbaled options
• Plastic bottle return and earn in 240l bins or smaller only
• Diathermy leads and similar plastic coated copper cables
• Uniforms with NSW Health badges and logos
• Non-woven polypropylene ( Kimguard, curtains)
• Medical glass - glass vials and bottles used with non-restricted drugs like cough syrup, liquid paraffin, paracetamol oral liquid
