Background
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) branch Transwa provides a customer-focused, safe and cost-effective public transport service to regional Western Australia.
The Transwa road coach fleet delivers an essential service for regional Western Australia. The road coach network links some 240 regional communities to Perth and the 132 weekly scheduled services. The Transwa services are a vital regional community service, with many customers (particularly the elderly, unemployed and students) having either no or limited alternative transport options.
Transwa operate 25 Volvo/Irizar road coaches which are fitted with 295/80 R22.5 all position tubeless steel radial tyres.
Scope of Works
Transwa is seeking a Contractor that can supply and fit 295/80 R22.5 all position tubeless steel radial tyres with a speed category not less than “L”. All tyres supplied are to comply with Australian Standard AS/NZS 2230:1999.
All tyres shall be fitted with steel belt radial ply tyres, of a load or ply rating not lower than that set by the manufacturer. All new tyres fitted to the fleet must be original tread and of equal ply rating and construction. All road coaches are equipped with a spare tyre which must be fitted with a tyre having original tread of a pattern matching with the tyres fitted to the front tag axle.
The contractor will be responsible for the maintenance of the tyres of the fleet and will be required to attend the Transwa Depot each morning (Monday to Friday) to check all the coaches in the yard and replace worn tyres as required.
The Contractor must be able to attend Transwa’s regional depots in Albany, Bunbury, Esperance and Geraldton should emergency maintenance be required.
