The Noora pipeline has been identified as requiring upgrades to address updated operational requirements. Currently, the Noora pipeline receives and transports saline groundwater from the Renmark Area Drainage Disposal Scheme (RADDS), as well as from the Bookpurnong, Loxton, Murtho, and Pike Salt Interception Schemes (SIS) and the Pike Environmental Salinity Management System (SMS).

With the additional flows of saline groundwater from the Salt Interception Schemes (SIS), the Department has reassessed the operational requirements of the Berri Rising Mains, a component of the Noora system. As a result, the decision has been made to isolate this section to minimise the risk of environmental harm caused by the potential release of saline groundwater into the environment.

Purpose of this document

This specification is for the upgrading and replacement of assets which are critical components of the Noora pipeline system. The Contractor shall remove and dispose of existing air valves, scour valves, and associated infrastructure and replace components that meet this specification.

The scope of the services focuses on the following key areas:

• Remove and reinstall a segment of pipe and its associated components to enable the isolation of the Berri rising main.

• Replacement of assets (fire plug and scour valves) located within the Berri rising main.

• Replacement of assets (fire plug and scour valves) located within the Lyrup rising main.

To optimise lifecycle performance, reliability, and value of assets, while minimising risks and costs, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and supporting sustainable, long-term operational efficiency. Fire plug and scour valves play a critical role in enhancing pipeline longevity, improving operational efficiency, and reducing the risks of failure.
