Council is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Community Recovery Officer under the terms of Contract HSCNQF1, funded through the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety. This appointment supports Council’s commitment to building local disaster resilience, enhancing community recovery capability, and embedding sustainable preparedness frameworks across the region.

The Community Recovery Officer will act as a vital link between Council, state agencies, and the community, working proactively to assess local risks, engage with vulnerable groups, promote disaster preparedness education and facilitate delivery of the Local Disaster Recovery Action Plan. This procurement forms part of a strategic initiative to strengthen local capacity to respond to, recover from, and adapt to future natural disasters and emergency events. The role will also support delivery of outcomes outlined in Queensland’s Disaster Resilience Strategy and complement broader disaster recovery and resilience funding objectives.
