The Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) is inviting expressions of interest (EOI) from dedicated paid carers and support staff across community aged care services to participate in nationally accredited end-of-life training.
This initiative is proudly funded by the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) and is designed to build workforce capability, improve person-centered care, and align with the 2025 Aged Care Quality Standards and the Support at Home Reforms.- CHCPAL002 Plan for and provide care services using a palliative approach

Who Can Apply?
This opportunity is open to:
- Community-Based Aged Care Support Workers
- Community -Based Aged Care Team Leaders or Coordinators Team Leaders
Applicants must:
- Be currently working in a direct paid care or support role within the community aged care services sector
- Have support from their employer to undertake the training
- Be prepared to attend all face-to-face workshops and set aside time each week to complete assessments.
- Have Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills sufficient to participate in the course and complete assessments, including basic reading, writing, and communication skills.
Scholarship Funding
This training opportunity is offered under a co-contribution model, generously supported by the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN).
The total course fee is $1,480 per participant. Under a co-contribution model:
- HNECC PHN will contribute a subsidy of $1,230 per participant
- The remaining $250 (administration fee) per participant must be paid to Essential Skills Training and Recruitment on enrolment to secure their place in the program.
Fee and Refund Terms and Conditions
- Non-Attendance (No Show): If a participant does not attend the workshops, no refund will be given.
- Cancellations within three (3) business days of Course Commencement: No refund will be issued for cancellations made within three business days of the course start date.
- Cancellations made more than three (3) Business Days Before Course Commencement: Participants are entitled to a refund of 80% of the fees paid.
- Cancellation by Essential Skills Training and Recruitment (ESTR): If the course is cancelled by ESTR, a full refund will be provided.
The fee retained by Essential Skills Training and Recruitment is required to cover the cost of staff and resources which will have already been committed based on the participants’ initial intention to undertake the training.
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be selected based on:
- Relevance of their current role
- Motivation and interest in applying the learning
- Commitment to completing all course requirements
- Support from their employer or organisation
- Potential to improve care outcomes in their setting
Enrolment Process
Successful applicants must complete the full online enrolment process with Essential Skills Training and Recruitment prior to course commencement. This process includes:
- Completion of an Online Enrolment Application
- Completion of an Online Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment
- Participation in a Pre-Training Conversation with one of our friendly Customer Relationships Officers
All steps must be completed for enrolment to be finalised.
Key Dates
- Applications close: Friday 22 August 2025
- Only 15 places are available. Successful applicants will be notified via email by Friday 5 September 2025.
- Enrolment and payment of the $250 administration fee must be completed by Friday 3 October 2025
