Sydney Water - Quakers Hill Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Advanced Treatment Upgrade – Package C
Project goals
The Quakers Hill WRRF Upgrade – Package C aims to
- Increase wastewater treatment servicing capacity at Quakers Hill WRRF to cater for around an additional 130,000 customers
- Protect waterway health through continued environmental protection licence compliance within Breakfast Creek and Sackville 2 zone of the Hawkesbury Nepean River
- Incorporate flexibility, so the solution can be adapted to alternative futures, address a range of demand scenarios and meet Sydney Water's changing aspirations.
- Ensure that wastewater treatment servicing and water delivery services are affordable to customers.
- Deliver and operate wastewater treatment sustainably
Scope
- Secondary Treatment Expansion
Augment capacity at Quakers Hill WRRF with a new secondary treatment process train to achieve a greater output by 2028. Treatment upgrade is expected to enable a flow split between existing plant and new assets delivered under this works.
- Advanced Water Treatment Plant (AWTP)
Produce the design and construct of a new AWTP, with a ADWF recirculation capability, which consist of ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and a stabilisation standpipe that discharges out to breakfast creek. The Advanced Treatment Upgrade will be required to meet environmental discharge requirements.
