Tender Description
The Shire of East Pilbara invites Tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Consultants for the provision of detailed design and tender document preparation for the Cape Keraudren boat ramp upgrade.
The Cape Keraudren Coastal Reserve is located approximately 140 km East of Port Hedland. Around 1,500 people each year use Cape Keraudren for camping and recreation with the peak period being April to October. Many campers also bring boats for fishing and recreation, which is the main use of the boat ramp.
The existing boat ramp at Cape Keraudren only operates at higher tide conditions. Tidal currents and exposure to adverse sea conditions create difficulty in use, with boats broaching and rolling due to the direction of the waves at the boat ramp. In the past there have been incidences reported where significant damage to vessels and countless number of slips and falls have occurred. The existing boat ramp condition is also degraded and requires repair or upgrade.
The Principal intends to upgrade the existing Cape Keraudren boat ramp to improve its usability and enhance safety. Due to the current difficulty and safety concerns in using the existing boat ramp, only half the visitors that bring boats currently utilise the recreational boating facilities.
At a minimum, it is expected that the successful Consultant will:
(a) Undertake a detailed survey;
(b) Undertake a geotechnical investigation to inform the detailed design under this Re-quest; and
(c) Prepare detailed design drawings and tender documentation, including description of scope of works and specifications, all of which shall be in accordance with all applicable standards and requirements from relevant authorities.
