Scope of Work

We are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from qualified vendors interested in establishing a long-term commercial agreement for the crushing and screening of redundant concrete sleepers. The goal is to repurpose these materials into high-quality recycled aggregate suitable for resale or use in infrastructure applications such as road base and construction fill.

Key Requirements

• Commercial Model: Vendors should propose a sustainable and commercially viable model for processing and marketing the recycled aggregate. The model should outline potential end uses (e.g., road base, construction materials) and demonstrate market demand. A formal commercial agreement will be negotiated with the selected vendor(s).
• Facility Requirements: Preference will be given to vendors with an established processing facility that includes adequate storage capacity to manage large volumes of redundant sleepers.
• Mobility and On-Site Capability: Vendors must demonstrate the ability to mobilise crushing and screening equipment across the rail network, particularly to support rail renewal and maintenance projects.
• Project-Based Engagements: Vendors may also express interest in project-specific arrangements, where they utilise redundant sleepers to produce aggregate for their own or third-party infrastructure projects.

This scope of work is a summary description of goods and/or services that may be required by Rio Tinto and may be subject to change in Rio Tinto’s absolute discretion.

It is recommended that Suppliers review the portal business details section to ensure all information, including contact email address, annual turnover and employee numbers, is current and accurate.

As this is an Expression of Interest (EOI) only, the specifics of the package of work relating to breadth of scope, location and timing may be subject to change. If successful, the Supplier/s will be notified of any changes prior to award.
