1974 Hino Bus Restoration - Priscilla

The History Trust of South Australia (HTSA) has recently located and acquired the 1974 Hino Freighter bus that featured in the 1994 film Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The bus was acquired due to its significance to Australian cultural history. The bus has been stored in the open on a rural property for decades; as a result, it is in poor condition.

HTSA is planning to have the bus restored as a roadworthy, registered bus in its condition in the film, after which it will become the centerpiece of a new exhibition at the National Motor Museum Australia, to celebrate the film and its message of diversity and acceptance.
