Tender Description
Murrumbidgee Irrigation is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to perform groundwater monitoring inspections of 300 piezometers across the MIA. Monitoring will occur annually over a three-year contract period. Monitoring will take place each year in August +/- 2 weeks (2025-2027).
Groundwater monitoring inspections will involve the following actions for each piezometer:
- Locating piezometers in field
- Using groundwater monitoring equipment to record:
o Standing water level
o Bore depth
o Temperature
o Electrical conductivity
- Photographs of each piezometer
- Confirm bore coordinates and provide status (Read, Destroyed, Dry, Blocked, Flooded or No Access)
- Assess the physical condition of each piezometer based on the MI standard checklist provided in Attachment 1 and MI standard drawing.
- Maintenance of the piezometer and surrounding area, including:
o Trimming (or whipper snipping) of overgrown vegetation
o Flushing piezometers
as deemed necessary during the monitoring inspection.
Location information for each piezometer and MI piezometer standard drawing will be available to the selected contractor. Likewise, photographs of each piezometer will be available upon request.
Contractor is required to provide their own motor vehicles to complete the work.
MI monitoring equipment and calibration solution is available for use, or the selected contractor may choose to use their own equipment. Calibration to be completed at a minimum of every two days during monitoring periods.
Contractor required to complete MI inductions prior to commencing work.
All customer engagement is to be carried out by MI's Customer Engagement team. Where piezometers are found to be not readily accessible (e.g. obscured by fences or locked gates), the contractor will be required to request MI carry out customer engagement to gain access.
