Whakatāne Airport is an airport serving Whakatane and the wider Eastern Bay of Plenty sub-region.

The Eastern Bay of Plenty encompasses Whakatāne, Kawerau, Ōpōtiki, and has a population of approximately 50,500.

Council is now seeking registration of interests from prospective Flight Service Providers to provide air services from Whakatāne Airport to either or both Auckland and Wellington that originate in Whakatāne, hence allowing for an early morning service(s) that supports business travellers.

Council is seeking respondents who share our vision of providing air connectivity for the Eastern Bay of Plenty business community. Council seeks to do this by connecting Whakatāne to Auckland and Wellington.

Council places importance on operators who have the expertise and consistency to deliver the services our community desires.
