Tender ID: 587206
Tender Details
Tender Description
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) invites companies to provide a response to the Request for Tender for Contract No. 24C268, Remediation of private flood levees Package 1 and / or 24C292, Remediation of private flood levees Package 2.
As part of the State Government’s River Murray flood recovery response, the Lower Murray Reclaimed Irrigation Area (LMRIA) Levee Remediation and Resilience Program (Program) was established to repair the damaged levees that caused extensive inundation of primary production land as a result of the 2022-2023 River Murray Flood event. The inundation also impacted other essential assets to the State, such as infrastructure for drinking water, telecommunications, electricity and transport routes.
The South Australian Government has undertaken immediate stabilisation works and dewatering across the LMRIA levee network to enable landholders to access their land and recommence agricultural production. This is considered to be Stage 1 of the LMRIA Levee Remediation and Resilience Program.
Due to the urgent and short-term nature of the immediate stabilisation works, the methods employed have not returned the levees to their full pre-flood height or condition. As such, this project is to undertake further intermediate remediation works of the levee banks in the LMRIA (Stage 2) to provide a level of flood mitigation in a future high-flow event.
