1. INTRODUCTION

Flinders University is excited to announce an open and competitive tender for the Critical Infrastructure Refresh project, aimed at upgrading our network infrastructure to ensure robust, secure, and innovative digital services across our campuses. We invite potential vendors to participate in this significant opportunity to contribute to the University's technological advancement.

Suppliers will be offered a 1-year contract commencing end of July 2025.

2. BACKGROUND

The University currently utilises Cisco networking across its campuses and data centres to provide accessible and reliable digital services for students, staff, and visitors. Access switches are the primary connection point between endpoint devices and the broader network, forming the first layer of networking that delivers essential services. Multiple switches are required across the campuses to provide the necessary connectivity.

The University has previously invested in upgrading the two data centre networks (using Cisco ACI technology) and the distribution layer of the campus network (Distribution Switches). This holistic uplift aims to enhance security controls, automation, and provide a more customer-focused experience, allowing users to roam and consume various digital services while experiencing consistent network policies and access.
