Tender Description
Council is seeking tender responses from organisations that have appropriate certifications/qualifications, capacity, experience, a high standard of capability, and can deliver the best value for money outcome to Council and its community.
Drainage Works
- Drainage works to be carried out in accordance with specification 0224 Stormwater and 0222 Earthwork,
- MD01 – CH196 – 211 to be excavated with non-destructive means under arborist’s supervision. Existing tree root zone within this location, intent is to minimise impact on existing tree where possible,
- MD01 – CH28 – 43 to be excavated with non-destructive means under arborist’s supervision. Existing tree root zone within this location, intent is to minimise impact on existing tree where possible,
- MDA1 – CH100 – CH160, due to the depth of excavation, consideration will need to be given to the impact of the existing trees. Two trees have been identified to be of high risk, 1 is to be removed, the other is to be retained with a minimum of 7m clearance of any excavation.
- Therefore, shoring may need to be considered, arborist’s supervision to be provided when breaking ground near this section,
- Supply and install kikuyu turf to all disturbed areas,
- Supply all drainage back fill material certificates which demonstrates compliance to property requirements as outlined in the design documentation including but not limited to:
- Filter sand
- Drainage Layer”
- The contractor shall reinstate all existing infrastructure that may have been temporarily removed to complete the scope of works,
- The Contractor shall complete all excavation for the works to the correct line, grade, width and depth required by the Drawings and Specifications,
- The Contractor shall lay, bed, joint, backfill and compact all pipe lines to the grade and location required by the Drawings and Specifications, The Contractor is responsible for stockpiling all excess trench spoil on site to a location agreed with Strathfield Council, or removal offsite as agreed by Strathfield Council (Provisional Item),
- The Contractor is responsible for carrying out all CCTV inspections to completed pipeline,
- The Contractor’s supervisor shall be in regular contact with the Strathfield Council to communicate potential site issues on a daily basis. This does not relieve the Contactor of any responsibility which they have to ensure that best practices are continually maintained,
- The Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring the works are safe including flagging of open excavations and providing temporary manhole covers,
- The existing 300mm line is in poor condition and may need replacing, however a alternative option to patch and line the pipe may also be considered. CCTV footage of the existing 300mm pipe has been provided for reference. Attachment N – CCTV of Existing Line
Sports Field Drainage
- Sports field drainage works shall be completed by specialist contractor,
- Installation of lateral slit drains, slit drains to be installed by specialist contractor,
- Slit drain to be finalised by specialist contractor,
- Slit drain to tie into new peripheral drainage,
- Prior to sand slit system installation, the contractor shall locate and clearly mark the existing sprinkler system. The existing sprinkler system must be preserved and remain undamaged throughout the duration of the work,
- Damage to the irrigation system shall be repaired to the satisfaction of Council representative,
- Regrade sports playing field with to ensure significant undulations are removed and sports field is well draining,
- Supply and lay turf as recommended by specialise, this may require the existing turf to be either removed or treated prior to starting works,
- Turf shall be laid on at least 50mm of topsoil,
- The Contractor is responsible for stockpiling all excess trench spoil to a location on site to be agreed with Strathfield Council, or removal offsite as agreed by Strathfield Council (Provisional Item)
Asbestos Contamination
- During the early investigation traces of Asbestos was found onsite in the form of fibre cement samples, please refer to Attachment M – Contamination Assessment Report.
- If foreign material is found during the excavation stage, STOP works immediately and notify
- Council representative.
- All efforts must be taken to ensure contamination is not spread further.
- Samples shall be taken and sent to an NATA accredited lab for testing.
- If positive, notify Council and await further direction.
- If removal is required, contaminated material shall be removed and disposed of accordingly to an accredited waste facility, all waste dockets must be provided.
- Removal of asbestos rate shall include but not limited to, plant, labour, disposal fees, hygienist fees etc.
Maintenance Period
- The establishment and maintenance of the turf on the sports field will be carried out by Strathfield Council and excluded from the Contractors pricing.
- The establishment and maintenance of turf outside of the sports field shall be maintained by the contractor, this should include watering, fertilising and mowing as necessary to ensure establishment.
- The contractor shall ensure the turf shall be at least 90% established by the end of the maintenance period (3 months).
